Paula ZahnAs a 30-year news veteran, Paula Zahn is one of the most respected names in broadcast journalism. She is currently the executive producer and host of On the Case with Paula Zahn. Her extensive broadcast career includes anchoring CNN’s Paula Zahn Now and American Morning with Paula Zahn, CBS Morning News, CBS Evening News Saturday Edition, ABC’s World News This Morning and news segments of Good Morning America.

Throughout her career, she has interviewed the world’s most important newsmakers and dignitaries with her unique ability to personally connect with those she interviews, the skill which won her nine Emmys. Zahn was recognized by the National Commission of Working Women Broadcasting Award and won an AWRT Award for reporting on gender bias in education.

Tommy G. Thompson - Panelist

Tommy G. ThompsonThompson served as Health and Human Service (HHS) Secretary from 2001 to 2005 and is one of the nation's leading advocates for the health and welfare of all Americans. Thompson has dedicated his professional life to public service and served as Governor of Wisconsin from 1987 to 2001. Thompson made state history when he was re-elected to office for a third term in 1994 and a fourth term in 1998. He is currently a partner at the law firm of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld.

At Akin Gump, Thompson is building on his efforts as HHS Secretary and Governor to develop innovative solutions to the health care challenges facing American families, businesses, communities, states and the nation as a whole. These efforts focus on improving the use of information technology in hospitals, clinics and doctors offices; promoting healthier lifestyles; strengthening and modernizing Medicare and Medicaid and expanding the use of medical diplomacy around the world.

Each of Mercer's three Innovation Conversations will focus on a key topic crucial to the ongoing competitiveness of US businesses – health care, talent management and retirement provision. These dynamic and interactive discussions will feature nine-time Emmy Award winning news anchor Paula Zahn, who will moderate the events.

With the backdrop of the 2010 Health Reform legislation, many companies continue to grapple with escalating health care costs.
