Retention strategies in M&A transactions
Daniel Nadborny and Chuck Moritt
Retaining key talent is a critical issue during all M&A transactions. This issue becomes even more significant in today’s tough economy. In any form of ownership change including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, divestitures and leveraged buyouts retaining the right people for the right period of time is a critical success factor for delivering value. If you are involved in an M&A transaction, you will need to fully understand how talent retention issues can affect the outcome of the deal and how to design and structure a retention program to meet your organization’s business objectives.
This session will address processes for identifying key talent (both at the executive and broad-based employee level), outline retention strategies covering both financial and career considerations, and identify cultural challenges in developing and implementing an effective retention program. The use of case studies will highlight effective key employee identification techniques and concepts along with critical plan design criteria. |
