Mike Hager
President, Hager Strategic, Inc.
Mike Hager is president of Hager Strategic, Inc., which he founded in 1995. Mike had his start in this industry in 1983, helping large employers with administration, systems and sourcing issues in the HR, benefit and payroll areas.
Prior to starting Hager Strategic, Mike worked as the Director of Sales and then as an Outsourcing Implementation Manager for Wyatt Preferred Choice (which has since become Wellspring Resources, CitiStreet and now ING) where he served on the Board of Directors. Mike also worked for a number of years at William M. Mercer, Inc., where he participated on the task force that started Mercer's outsourcing administration business.
Most recently, Mike has been helping clients develop and implement long-term strategies for HR, payroll and benefits administration, including in-depth analyses of current vs. future systems and administrative environments. Mike has also been concentrating on helping clients hone methods for managing external vendors' ongoing performance and costs, according to industry best practices. Mike's clients have included a large number of Fortune 500 companies.
Hager Strategic also serves as the host organization that coordinate the semi-annual meetings and acts as the research organization that accumulates comparative data and best practices for sharing among member organizations for the HR Outsourcing Forum, a collection of senior human resources professionals whose organizations have outsourced one or more HR / benefit areas. The mission of the Forum is to bring together these organizations for the purpose of improving the quality of services they receive while simultaneously reducing the cost of those services via productivity enhancements.
Mike is a frequent speaker at conferences focusing on benefits and HR/payroll administration. He has been the Keynote speaker for several Conference Board sessions on "Outsourcing Employee Benefits," and has also given speeches at conferences sponsored by the American Bar Association (ABA), American Institute of CPAs, Employers Council on Flexible Compensation (ECFC), International Quality & Productivity Center's (IQPC), Financial Executives Institute, Institute for International Research, Information Management Network and Spencer's Research Reports, among others.
Mike received a BA in Economics from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and completed graduate work in Economics at the University of Maryland.
