Mercer’s 2014 EMEA Compensation and Benefits Conference in Stockholm, hosted by Ilya Bonic, President of Mercer’s Talent business welcomed 180 HR professionals from 26 countries to focus on this year’s theme: Compensation and benefits strategies for sustainable growth.
The global economic crisis of 2008 seems to be a distant image in the rear-view mirror but lingering effects continue. Over the past six years, economies worldwide have experienced a rollercoaster ride of promising economic peaks and disappointing downturns. Although economic impact has differed throughout the globe, challenges — though diverse — have been universally felt, and companies around the world have got used to these vacillations constantly adjusting to ongoing change. With this context in mind, participants explored the C&B strategies that will support sustainable and more consistent organisational growth.
Gerard Lyons, a leading global economist and Chief Economic Advisor to London Mayor Boris Johnson gave a keynote presentation titled “Global Economic Cake: How Big Can It Be and How to Divide It, and What Are the Implications for Us?
Over 2 days, the conference programme presented a combination of panel discussions, workshop sessions and a series of case studies from client companies such as Maersk, Amplifon, Hilton, Kone, Electrolux, Deutsche Post DHL and Nexans.
Puneet Swani, Mercer Regional Information Solutions Leader and Rewards Practice Leader for Asia, Turkey, Middle East and Africa, delivered the closing plenary plenary session, “Managing rewards in emerging markets”.
